Farmer Support Programme – Training sugarcane and soy farmers in India

Solidaridad is currently implementing the Farmer Support Programme (FSP) which is a public private partnership developed to support 400,000 small-holders and 400,000 workers globally. Solidaridad South and South East Asia is implementing the Programme for Soybean and Sugarcane in India.

This programme provides local agricultural extension services through farmer field schools, by employing "lead framers" to conduct demonstration and through capacity building exercises like training, workshops, seminars, exposure visits etc. Thus ensuring farmers have access to suitable and advanced agricultural information, including better crop management practices.

Under the Farmer Support Programme a three day interactive event was organised by Solidaridad in Madhya Pradesh, India. The event was positioned around FSP steering group's visit to India to see the FSP programme at ground and to interact with different stakeholders to explore the long term impact and the way forward for the program.
