This programme provides local agricultural extension services through farmer field schools, by employing "lead framers" to conduct demonstration and through capacity building exercises like training, workshops, seminars, exposure visits etc. Thus ensuring farmers have access to suitable and advanced agricultural information, including better crop management practices.
Under the Farmer Support Programme a three day interactive event was organised by Solidaridad in Madhya Pradesh, India. The event was positioned around FSP steering group's visit to India to see the FSP programme at ground and to interact with different stakeholders to explore the long term impact and the way forward for the program. The Farmer Support Programme aligns stakeholders from five internationally recognized commodity roundtables: Palm Oil (RSPO– Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), Soybean (RTRS Roundtable on Responsible Soy Association), Sugarcane (Bonsucro), Cotton (BCI – Better Cotton Initiative) and Livestock (GRSB – Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef).
