MYKAPS, an NGO based in Karnataka India and supporting some 1750 smallholder cotton farmers, received the first Better Cotton license in India for the 2011-2012 cotton season. Almost 1,9 million kilo cotton is available for buyers that seek cotton with a license from the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). MYKAPS is supported for the second consecutive year by the Solidaridad cotton solutions team in order to fulfill with the Better Cotton Initiative principles.
MYKAPS works with 62 learning groups of farmers that grow cotton in a more efficient and sustainable manner. The compliance rate of the farmers is 84% which is very high. It enables continuous improvement by the farmers. Find out more about the collaboration between MYKAPS and Solidaridad here.
