Improving sustainable business

Aquaculture is the most important sub-sector of Bangladesh providing 60% of the animal protein intake, food security, poverty reduction and export earnings. Bangladesh is the fifth largest aquaculture producing country in the world.

Despite huge business growth potential, the aquaculture sub-sector is facing constraints due to quality, integrity and sustainability. Solidaridad is supporting aquaculture farmers to adopt good aquaculture practices and help them connect with high-end markets. Solidaridad is also working with the government and sector leaders to frame a national action plan for shrimp sector development.
