Project Coordinator – Mexico

Are you passionate about Mexico’s sustainable future? Solidaridad is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our team in Mexico. We’re seeking someone with a background in project management with a desire to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive economy.

We currently work in over 40 countries, on five continents, through seven independently supervised regional offices.

In Mexico, Solidaridad engages actors in the coffee, palm oil and sugarcane value chains. We are committed to finding innovative solutions that create a sustainable and inclusive economy.

The Project Coordinator will play a key role in executing Solidaridad’s projects in Mexico. This includes supporting the implementation of sustainability activities to deliver on our agenda within the country. The coordinator will be responsible for managing work plans and resources, while ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and with maximum impact.

Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities, ensuring compliance with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress on project deliverables and goals.
  • Prepare narrative and financial reports for internal purposes as well as for donors and clients.

Financial Control and Administration

  • Assist in budget monitoring to ensure that expenditures align with project plans and funding requirements.
  • Work closely with the financial team to support the timely preparation of financial reports and audits.
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, agreements, and compliance records.

Management of Personnel

  • Supervise project staff, ensuring team members have clear objectives, have the required inputs to perform their tasks, and are supported in meeting their goals.
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding project team members and facilitating their professional development.

Capacity Building and Learning

  • Participate in relevant training and learning activities to enhance knowledge of project management, sustainability, and sector trends.
  • Support the knowledge-sharing process within the project team and across the Latin American region. 

Partner Relations

  • Work closely with the Country Manager to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Represent Solidaridad in meetings, forums and sector activities as required.
  • Support the preparation of proposals, including narrative and financial components, under the supervision of the Country Manager.

Professional profile

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, International Development, Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, Agronomy, or related fields.

4 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in sustainability, value chain management, or development sectors.

Required knowledge

  • Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Advanced English (written and spoken).
  • Familiarity with fundraising and donor management.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and/or agricultural value chains.

Desirable knowledge

  • Familiarity with sustainability or value chains, particularly in a Mexican or Latin American context.
  • Experience in staff management.

Travel

This role requires a minimum of 30 percent travel time.
