Gabriel Olaolu Fapojuwo has been appointed as Solidaridad’s new Country Representative for Nigeria, effective 1 October 2024. Gabriel will lead efforts to strengthen supply chains, improve food security, and enhance the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across the country.

Gabriel Olaolu Fapojuwo is the new Solidaridad Country Representative for Nigeria.

As Solidaridad’s Country Manager for Nigeria, Gabriel Olaolu Fapojuwo will provide strategic leadership and oversee Solidaridad’s operations within the country. His role includes fundraising, partnership development, programme quality assurance, innovation, and human resource management. He will also oversee financial stewardship and ensure the effective administration of all initiatives.

Gabriel will collaborate with federal, state, and local levels of Nigeria’s government, as well as with businesses, donors, and key partners, to drive forward Solidaridad’s programmes within the country.

“I am committed to a future where the full potential of Nigerian farmers and other rural community stakeholders, especially women and youth, are realized. By leveraging Solidaridad’s expertise and resources (boots and brains) we will work sustainably to alleviate poverty and drive food security. It’s an honour to lead a team dedicated to making real, lasting contributions in addressing the challenges faced by smallholder farmers and workers,” says Gabriel.

Gabriel brings a wealth of experience in government relations, corporate strategy, and business advisory to his new role. Over his 18-year career, he has worked with listed companies on the Nigeria Exchange Limited (NGX) and various private institutions across agriculture, oil and gas, technology, financial services, manufacturing, and public-private partnerships (PPP). His extensive background in project management, business transformation, and fundraising has driven successful outcomes for smallholder farmers and large-scale projects alike.

Before joining Solidaridad, Gabriel led Investor Relations at the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), managing Nigeria’s sovereign investment assets valued at over 50 billion US dollars (45.5 billion euros). He played a pivotal role in attracting local and institutional investors to support the Nigerian government’s seven-point agenda for national development.

Gabriel has also held key leadership roles at BUA Foods Plc, where as Senior Manager of Investor Relations, he was instrumental in driving performance improvements, stakeholder engagement, and business turnaround strategies that contributed to over 210% share price growth. His previous roles at Africa Prudential Plc and Nosak Group Limited further demonstrate his expertise in corporate strategy and business transformation, with notable achievements in capital raises and multi-sector oversight.

Gabriel holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed senior training courses at Harvard Business School, Lagos Business School, and Emeritus-LATAM, and participated in numerous other professional training programmes.
