The RECLAIM Sustainability! programme is a consortium of Solidaridad, TrustAfrica, Fairfood and Business Watch Indonesia, in strategic partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Together we strive to strengthen civil society and foster inclusive sustainability in global value chains, elevating the voices of farmers, miners, workers and citizens, and ensuring that these voices are included and well represented in decision-making and sustainability processes and policies.
RECLAIM Sustainability! works towards creating impact along three main pathways:
- Advocate through inclusive dialogue;
- Amplify the voice of citizenry;
- Accelerate disruptive innovations.
In our 2023 Progress Report, the consortium reflects on the progress, achievements and lessons learnt across the regions and supply chains we work in. The report also highlights key activities undertaken as part of the Global Innovation and Digitization, and the Global Linking and Learning goals of the programme.
Progress highlights in 2023
2023 is the third year of the RECLAIM Sustainability! programme implementation. You can find some examples of the main results from our global work below. Strengthening civil society organizations (CSOs) to speak and engage in policy dialogue is key in our programming, whereby 264 civil society actors and target groups have increased their Lobby & Advocacy capacities.
Advocate through inclusive dialogue
- We have submitted 126 innovative and inclusive solutions / recommendations by civil society through inclusive dialogues to key public and private sector decision makers for adoption and implementation;
- 202 dialogues were initiated, strengthened or joined to engage Civil Society and Civil Society’s agenda in debate with public and private decision makers.
Amplify the voice of citizenry
- Through our campaigns and other initiatives, we have activated and mobilized 22,232,617 individuals to raise their voice to push the policy agenda, influence societal (gender) norms, make informed decisions (consumer and corporate behaviour, e.g. on production and consumption practices);
- There were 91 CSO-led awareness raising campaigns.
Accelerate disruptive innovations
- Our work has facilitated an improved bargaining position for 76,594 farmers, miners and workers through equitable access to (digital) market intelligence or as a result of new and innovative business models;
- 314,900 farmers, miners and workers have been using the developed tools, and business models being tested for sourcing, production, trade and investment.
