To promote a responsible soy chain in the Netherlands.
Reason
As the Netherlands is the second importer of soy in the world, mainly as animal feed, it has a specific responsibility for reducing the negative effects of soy production.
Activities
Solidaridad together with World Wildlife Fund Netherlands and the Dutch Foundation for Nature and Environment, convinced 3 Dutch companies to take responsibility for the amount of soy used in the supply chain under their brand.
Results
- In 2009, FrieslandCampina, CONO and Keurslagers supported the sustainable production of more than 25.000 tonnes of soy by family farmers in India and Brazil.
- In communication, these companies receive all the credits for being front runners in sustainability.
